When We Glorify Man…
It is like a vicious cycle. Another celebrity gets put under the microscope due to their transgressions. The media is having a field day and the public is in shock. We wonder why the world is in such shock when a public figure makes a mistake. The answer is simple. The world trusts the flesh, but God tells us the flesh is pure evil.
I just read a headline of a website, “Tiger Woods is ‘only human after all’ say variety of observers.” The world makes emphasis on promoting the flesh to the status of God so they can be perceived as gods because they can swing a golf club, shoot a basketball, catch or throw passes, or they may be a politician or church leader, or something to that extent. We glorify man to the highest and when he fails us, our hearts are broken.
I know he must be going through a tough time right now because the media spotlight is hot. However, if I could talk to him, I would tell him the following. Do not put your faith and trust in the world because they hate you even when they say they love you. The world is evil, but Christ is pure and He will forgive you. All you have to do is ask for His forgiveness.
It is sad to see the heart of the world that glorifies man, and then at the slightest iniquity or transgression of man, they tear him down. The world will never understand that the flesh is evil because it is made of the same evil flesh. The reason we fall victim to our evil hearts is because we do not look past the satisfaction to the consequences of our evilness.
I pray that Tiger would talk to God and bring forth his sins and ask for forgiveness if he hasn’t already. That is all that it takes to be right with God. There is no need for press conferences and feeding to the media frenzy that will love him and hate him. As the song says, “we fall down, but we get up.”
We never seem to hold people in “high” places to our own standards we set. Their sins and trespasses are always far worse than ours for some reason. A musician makes a bad remark on public television and he is deemed the worse person to walk to earth, but we gossip and lie, cheat our way through life, glorify the evilness in our own circles of friends and it is perfectly acceptable.
In Matthew 7:1-5, Jesus says 1“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. 2 For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged. 3 “And why worry about a speck in your friend’s eye when you have a log in your own? 4 How can you think of saying to your friend, ‘Let me help you get rid of that speck in your eye,’ when you can’t see past the log in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First get rid of the log in your own eye; then you will see well enough to deal with the speck in your friend’s eye. 6 Don’t waste what is holy on people who are unholy. Don’t throw your pearls to pigs! They will trample the pearls, then turn and attack you.”
It seems the world has the greatest vision through the enormous plan it has in its own eyes to be able to observe the every move of others. I urge you to not fall victim to this trap.
