What more?

Servant of Christ Jesus

John 3:16 reads “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

This is one of the most popular verses in the Bible, if not the most popular. However, after reading this verse a couple of times going through the book of John, it made me think about our selfish ways. Often times, we ask ourselves asking God for more. We are thankful for what He has provided us, but in our hearts we feel and express we would have been even more thankful if He would have provided a little more that we really don’t need. This verse reminds me of how hideous the nature of are hearts are without the power of the Holy Spirit. After God sent His only son to die for us, for our sins, that WE committed, not Him, so that we could not perish and have everlasting life, we still ask for more. God does not owe us anything, but He gives us so much because He loves us.

I do not know anybody that would sacrifice their only child, their ONLY son, especially for people who do not listen to their words or follow the ways they have set forth, and blaspheme their name. However, imagine, just for one second, if you sent your only son to die for someone else’s sake, so they could live and then they have the audacity to say it is not enough, you could have done more. If that would break your heart, imagine the pain that God goes through when we say that to him.

Let us rejoice in the name of our Lord and always give thanks always. All times are good when in living in the Spirit of the Lord. Even when times may seem hard, we must rejoice because we know it goes to the greater glory of Christ our Lord who opened up the arms and the gates our our salvation and granted us everlasting life.
