I Am He
John 18:5 reads ‘they answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am He.” And Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.’
There will be a time in all Christians lives where our faith will be tested and put on the line, possibly even with our life. When the mob came to seize Jesus and asked for Him, boldly, without hesitation He stepped up and said “I am He.” This is only possible because Jesus knew who He was, where He came from and where He was going. As we see later, Peter denied Christ because of doubt. However, after Peter’s restoration, he spoke boldly, although being threatened with his life on several occasions, that Jesus was the Christ, our Lord and Savior. There was a reason that Jesus told the disciples to stand watch and pray so temptation would enters their hearts that night. It was a message to them, but also a message to us. We live our lives in the garden in which Jesus was betrayed and we must continuously pray that when our time comes, we will boldly profess the name of the Lord, our God, Jesus the Christ and be pleasantly and willing to suffer for His name’s sake. Pray my friends, pray all the time.
