The Name of Jesus
Acts 19:13-16 reads
13 Then some of the itinerant Jewish exorcists took it upon themselves to call the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had evil spirits, saying, “We exorcise you by the Jesus whom Paul preaches.” 14 Also there were seven sons of Sceva, a Jewish chief priest, who did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are you?”
16 Then the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, overpowered them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
The name of Jesus is the name above all names. Demons bow down to the name because they know Christ is the ruler of all and controls their fate. It is amazing how demons actually know and fear God more than humans. As we see, the name of Jesus is not a name to take lightly. Those who know and have a personal relationship with Him can call upon His name at ANY time, and He will be at our side in less than a heart beat. However, those who do not know Him but call on His name, they are surely opening their lives to Satan to devour them. Satan knows where Jesus is, so in those places he tries to find another way in. Those who do not know Christ, he will tear down the entire house.
