Our Calling
Jesus says in Matthew 4:19 to his first disciples “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Many of us are in constant search for what God has sent us here to do. However, the answer is very simple. God is calling us to do whatever it is that He made us good at, but to do it in the sense that brings glory to His name. As we see in Matthew 4:19, Jesus tells the fishermen to follow Him and He will make them fishers of men. He did not tell them He would have them do something they are not familiar with. He did not say I will make you a nurse, or a business man, or a doctor, etc. He has already given us the skills that we are skilled with. The first time the Apostles casted their nets into the sea of men, they caught 3,000 lives who truly and genuinely turned their lives over to Jesus Christ. Friends, let’s use the skills that God has already given us to glorify His name and stop wasting time asking for what we already have.
