No Excuses
In Matthew 8:21-22, Jesus is having a brief conversation with another disciple:
21 Then another of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, let me first go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus said to him, “Follow Me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”
Don’t come to the Lord with an excuse of when you will be ready to follow Him. There is nothing more important than following Christ Jesus, accepting Him, and having Him live within you. Often times, we will put off following the Lord to a time that is more convenient for us. We think we can pencil Him into our busy schedules. Certainly this must not be the case. More things will always arise to make us prolong the situation. Jesus Christ wants to be, should be, and must be our schedule. Everything else should be formed around Him. Do not fall for the trap of the enemy. By Jesus saying “let the dead bury their own dead” He is telling the disciple that he is dead by not following Him and he will be burying his own dead until he has been born again, made alive in Christ. The time to follow Christ Jesus, to be made alive, is NOW! Not in a minute, not tomorrow, not next year, but right NOW!
