Out With the Old, In With the New
Jesus says in Matthew 9:16-17 “No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch will pull away from the garment, making the tear worse. Neither do men pour new wine into old wineskins.”
Often times we say that we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and that we have a personal intimate relationship with him, yet there is no change from our lifestyle. We have no desire to change. Jesus tells us that is not possible. He tells us He is our new garment. We were once wearing the garment of evil but thanks be to God He sent His only Son to die for us on a cross, who rose again on the third day to give us this new garment, full of mercy, love, forgiveness and salvation. However, we cannot put this garment over our old wicked ways. We must first take off the old garment and burn it, so we can put on the new garment which is the greatest gift we could ever receive.
