Being Wise and Harmless
Before sending out His disciples in Matthew 10:16, Jesus tells them “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.“
My brothers and sisters in Christ, covered by the righteous blood of the Lamb of God, who died for our sins and rose again for our freedom and salvation, we must be careful. We are like sheep amongst wolves who are waiting to devour us because of our love for Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ commands us to be as wise as serpents. Remember the Eve was deceived by cunningness of the serpent. We must be as wise as the serpent not to be deceived by the devil, the world, and especially our flesh (the Satanic trinity). We must stand firm and be strong through the power of Jesus Christ. More importantly, the Lord Jesus Christ commanded us to be as harmless as doves. This is our commandment to share the love, mercy, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior with everyone, without passing judgment on anyone and without causing our brethren to stumble.
