Avoiding Deception
In Matthew 11:7-8, Jesus speaks regarding John the Baptist:
7As John’s disciples were leaving, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: “What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? 8If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear fine clothes are in kings’ palaces.“
Be careful brothers and sisters. Let us not be fooled. Many times we can be deceived by people who are self-proclaimed to know God because they have either material possessions or dress in high-end clothing. Let not our eyes deceive our hearts, minds, and souls. We have recently seen people with huge fan bases who tried to walk with God, until their wealth and prosperity made them think they were God, and instead of worshiping God, then believed they should be worshiped. Now, we clearly see they were never of God. As we can see as Jesus spoke of John (the Baptist), he was not moved like the grass is moved by the wind concerning the message of God, nor did he live to impress people with fancy sermons. He preached the word of God. We must be careful who we look up to and who we follow because God knows who are His. Jesus said to “Follow Me” and not anyone else. Let us follow the Lord Jesus Christ because He can NEVER lead us astray.
