Too Busy For God?
In Matthew 14:22-23, Jesus immediately made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side of the Sea of Galilee, while He sent the multitudes away. When He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there.
We always need to set time aside to be alone with God. The world tries to keep us so busy with work, children, husbands, wives, studying, sports, Facebook games, television shows, even church functions whether it is bible study, volunteering, evangelizing or anything else that requires us to think. We end up so exhausted and empty. We really need to get away from the world and focus on God alone at times. Sometimes, we just need to do nothing; just to marvel at the wonders of God with a clear mind will refresh us and renew us. The devil loves to send distractions our way. He knows the more we are distracted, the easier it will be to sway us away from being in tune with God. Then the doors are opened for him to devour us like a lion hunting for his prey. If Jesus had to take time away from the world to be with His Father, how much more do we need to do the same? Let us not give the devil the opportunity to distract us for one evil second.
