Testing God

Servant of Christ Jesus

In Matthew 14:28, when the disciples saw Jesus walking on water, Peter says to Him, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”

Many people seem to think believing in God our Father, Jesus Christ our Lord, and the Holy Spirit who dwells within is is blind faith. However, due to their blindness, the veil over their eyes prevents them from encountering God; the sin they clinch to so tightly makes it just about impossible to understand God. God wants us to test Him. He doesn’t want us to believe blindly. If we believe in God blindly, we can easily believe in anything else just as blindly, especially in ourselves. Looking back, it doesn’t even make sense how I could believe in myself time and time again, and fail time and time again. It seems I was a bit insane then. I’m sure many of us, if not all of us have been there too. We are not to doubt God’s ability, might, and power, but He wants us to test Him. He takes pleasure showing us His faithfulness, His mercy, His grace, His loving-kindness to His children, those He has relationship with. When a new bridge is built, we do not have blind faith to immediately drive or walk across it. We test it to make sure it will hold up. God wants us to do the same so we can build a closer relationship, a strong and lasting bridge with Him so ALL of our doubts, fears, worries, and wants can be cast away by the love He has for us.
