Little Faith?
In Matthew 14:31, Jesus immediately stretched out His hand and caught Peter, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Let’s stop lying to ourselves. We always look at this story and say Peter didn’t have any faith and he doubted the strength and power of Jesus. Although that may be some what true, don’t we always do the same? We may try to justify our lack of faith, but there really is no justification. If we want to make a comparison, Peter was standing victoriously, as briefly as it may have been, in the middle of a storm in the middle of the night in the middle of the sea of Galilee. He was right in the middle of it all. Yet, when we go through our financial situations, relationship issues, or health circumstances, immediately after we pray, we try to solve whatever it is that we are going through on our own strength. I know I’ve surely done that over and over again and always seem to fall short of victory. We can only pray that God strengthens our faith as He did for Peter. There is no such thing as not having enough faith; we just need to stop getting in God’s path when He is working in us to bring forth the faith He has placed in us through His Holy Spirit when we FIRST opened our hearts to Jesus Christ. Thank God for as much faith or lack of faith we may have, He saves us regardless because He holds on to us and not us holding on to Him.
