Is It Worth It?
In Matthew 16:26, Jesus continues to speak to His disciples saying “For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?”
Is it really worth it? The devil, our great deceiver, knows all the ways to have us turn our souls over to him. Just as he tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he tempts us too. The difference is we are weak and we can easily fall into temptation and Jesus is God who cannot fall into temptation or sin. However, He was able to see and feel the pressure that the devil puts on us. When we were down and out and had absolutely nothing, the devil offered us the kingdoms of this world. At the time, our souls did not mean anything to us, but they were still priceless to God. Through our lack of knowledge and the desires of our hearts, we gave our souls to Satan expecting great things but it only brought forth pain, agony, sorrow, divorce, murder, theft, adultery, abortion, diseases, and the list can go on. It is a direct result from the one bad decision to follow Satan just as Adam and Eve did. We find ourselves in a hopeless situation looking for a restart button. We were in a much better condition when we had nothing but still had our souls. We dwell on the past but that’s just what it is: the past. What are we to do? Thank God for Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior who holds the keys of Death and Hades. What we gave to Satan, Jesus Christ has the power to buy back and redeem. If we truly ask Jesus Christ to save us, He will in less than a heart beat. He will hold us and comfort us and console us to bring us through our past, live in the present, and look forward to the Blessed Hope of seeing Him face to face in the future. There is no mistake that is unredeemable and unforgivable by the Lord Jesus Christ. Come to Him.
